Arlington: Sunday turf speed?

It's been sunny and warm for many, many days in a row now. The grass is quite firm. Possible that turf speed is holding today? Race 1, a $5K starter-allowance over 9fs on grass, was a total parade, with Stormy April going straight to the front, setting a decent pace, and winning while never threatened. Not just that, but the entire field ran around in an oval without ever changing position -- not at all. Another grass race coming up in race 3, after which we'll see if speed might indeed be good. Worth thinking about, because after that, there still are three more grass races today.

Pace also held decently in race 2, a $7.5K Poly claimer, but I'm not making much of that. Dama Dama, a pretty slow horse to begin with, seemed to be sliding down in form, but she 'rebounded' here with a pace-pressing win under Chris Emigh for trainer Mike Dini. Favored Frank Calabrese-owned entry (as in, 3-5 favorite) was nowhere, though Beautiful Lori did get sawed off at the top of the stretch. Final time of 1:26.13 slow even for the class level.
