Arlington: Saturday conditions (brrr)

There is a frost advisory out for International Falls, Minnesota tonight, where the forecast low is 32 degrees. Extrapolate downward using latitude and temperature, and you still will understand that the weather is unseasonably cold today.

Temp: 65 degrees, 41 percent humidity
Really, really windy again: Wind west (headwind stretch, 20-30 mph)
Turf: Yielding, turf rail in lane 3

Want to know how strong that wind is? Race 1 times: 21.97 seconds, 45.64 seconds, 59.31 seconds, and 1:13.67 for six furlongs. That's right: The front-end, even-money (!?) favorite Sleetcalling clocked a 1:13.67 three-quarters off a 45.64 second half. That's a final quarter-mile in more than 28 seconds. And that is one stiff breeze. If I'm on any sort of closer, I'm staying covered up for as long as possible.

Like to ride 'em from up in the press box.
