Arlington: Polytrack playing totally different

Bizarre. After inside speed won three of five Polytrack races Thursday (and held well at odds in two others), and won all four Polytrack races Friday (including last-race price horse),  when the only closers making any headway came up the fence, you absolutely, positively, do not want to be inside and on the lead racing on Polytrack so far Saturday. Just watched favored Amazing Bud in race 5 become the latest rail speed to get totally swallowed up. Magic Man won at 6-1 after being shifted, oh, about six paths wide for the stretch run. Winning Wildcat, post 12, and Terrific Tim, post 11, rounded out the trifecta. That followed pace meltdowns by heavily favored Can't Stop Ravin in race 1, 5-1 Georgie My Boy in race 2, and 5-2 first-timer Jaconage in race 3. The weird thing is the weather here hasn't really changed at all since Thursday and Friday -- still hot and humid.

I'd say this bodes well for late-running, outside-drawn Mister Marti Gras in the Washington Park later today. But keep in mind there are storms all around us: Rain and temp drop would probably change the track profile.
