Sneakers still wet from walking the Arlington turf course just now, both lanes of it. They're calling lane 5, the lane for the graded stakes, "good," and labeling the inner course, where all the other races (save the 12th) will be run "yielding." I'm no expert, but I'd say the Million lane is definitely on the firm side of good, and the inner course definitely on the good side of yielding. There should be no major excuses because of course conditions.
Do note that the inner rail has just been moved in about 12 feet, and the first three paths of the inner turf course are pristine, while lanes outside those are much more heavily worn. Even if its a touch wetter down there, I'd have to think a horse would be more comfortable with the going on the fresh grass.
Thinking more and more that Gio Ponti is just going to go out and win his second Million. I picked against him with Tazeez, but starting to wish I had not.
Its still cloudy, and there was rain a couple hours ago, but the forecast is for mostly sunny skies this afternoon, high in the low 80s.
