Arlington: Mid-card Thursday

Polytrack is playing really slow today. There's a strong east wind (tail into stretch), which has slowed fractional times, but final times are coming in well under par, too, and it seems clear the Poly is dull today.

No bias, though, unless you think speed is dying a little bit -- which might be the case. In the last two races, horses that took a clear lead to the 1/8 pole stuck their feet in the ground and were gunned down by the deepest closers.

That last deep closer, 3yof Lunar Mist in race 5, ran pretty well. She rallied from last (or second-last; right at the back, in any case) at the half-mile pole while closing into a 47 and change half-mile split in a six-furlong N1X allowance. Trainer Chris Block perhaps the best on the circuit with long-term-layoff comebackers.
