Arlington: "Good" turf seems pretty fast

Email

We had plenty of rain earlier in the week, and AP called the turf yielding as recently as Saturday. It's "good" today, but the one grass race so far on this card suggests that "good" is tilted more to firm than soft. Eagle Putt, racing on or near the lead throughout an N2X allowance / $40K claimer, ran five furlongs in 57.77 seconds. The turf rail is in lane 3, and that's a pretty snappy clocking, one that would not have happened on a course that was wet and taxing.
