Arlington: Bias is to rail, not necessarily speed

Email

To be clear: I try not to be a knee-jerk bias-caller. You know the drill - a horse wins wire to wire, someone shouts, "Speed bias!" But after watching all of Friday's card and four races today, I have no hesistation saying the AP main track is rail-biased. Just watched 15-1 Dooney Rock win race 4, running past 13-1 inside pace-setter Sorrowful Jones in deep stretch after hugging the fence until the final furlong, when he moved two wide. Gavilan rallied up the fence to win race 1. Inside-speed horses captured races 2 and 3. There's been at least a hint of an inside Poly bias much of this meet, and it's strong right now.

Race 4 marred by ugly stretch breakdown of Zizi Cat. Injuries do happen on synthetics, too.
