Arlington: Betting action (does it matter?)

Feisty Girl and Princess Freedom both were very live on the board early in the race 7 wagering. Feisty Girl backed through the field after running a quarter-mile. Princess Freedom set an insane pace and faded badly the final eighth. Meanwhile, 31-1 shot Lantic, who should have been hlalf that price, was up in the last stride. So much for betting action.

But, I could not help noting that Chief Chicago was 7-2 with 12 minutes to post in race 8, that of a morning-line of 15-1. Up to 6-1 now, but that is still pretty solid money for horse without obvious form. And I thought I was picking a real longshot in this Illinois MSW turf route.

Speaking of turf and routes, could we have more of those and fewer turf sprints? Anyone? Could we? Especially these $25K turf-sprint maiden-claimers that have recently become an AP staple, and of which race 7 was one. They are stone-cold chaos.
