Arlington: Bad favorites

I believe we have a leader in the clubhouse for worst-performing favorite(s) of the meet. The coupled entry of Gavilan and Mentiroso were pounded to 4-5 in race 6, one of these $25K maiden-claimers on turf that have become the staple of Arlington racing (hate 'em). Neither had any run in the stretch, and they wound up eighth and ninth in a nine-horse field. Not a strong AP meet for trainer Francine Faraci-Ransom. Winner here was third-time starting and second-time turfing Plum Creek, who improved about a billion lengths off last-out turf debut against much tougher MSW foes.

Next up, 2yo MSWs Poly-sprinting in race 7. Catalano-trained second-timer Media Contact a somewhat flat 2-1 with 17 MTP. Rusty Arnold-trained KEE shipper Devil Train, on the other hand, is a hot 2-1 off a (too high) 10-1 morning line.
