Aqueduct: Wood Day

Another picture-perfect weather day, with a light tailwind down the backstretch. The main track, which played several ticks faster than par on Friday, is fast. The turf course is labeled yielding for race 11, which will be the first grass race of the season in New York. The first seven scheduled turf races this week were switched to the main track, including today's 6th race, which starts the pick-6.

There is a $500k guaranteed all-stakes pick-4 on races 7-10: the Bay Shore, Excelsior, Wood Memorial and Carter.

Castaneda, an impressive winner yesterday, is out of the Bay Shore, which leaves his stablemate Eightyfiveinafifty as the one to catch and beat.

National Pride, the 5-2 second choice on the morning line, is out of the Excelsior, reducing it to a field of five.

  For $900, you can go all-all-all-all in the $500k pick-4 (6 x 5 x 6 x 5), which means you'd need a $2 payoff of $1,800 to break even - highly doubtful unless two really outside-the-box horses are in the mix.
