Aqueduct: The Roundhouse finds winner's circle

Email

The Roundhouse, an underachieving 6-year-old son of Grade 1 winners Fusaichi Pegasus and Circle of Life, rallied to win a $7,500 claimer by a neck over the 7-year-old Sly. It broke an 0 for 14 skid for The Roundhouse, who is now trained and partly owned by Randi Persaud, who won just his third race of the winter meet. The Roundhouse, who is now 5 for 33 in his career, was racing at the lowest level of his career.

The story of the race may have been the hardluck trip for Stopbluffing, a stalker who leapt at the start and found himself last. He ran a big race to be third.

Trainer Gary Contessa claimed the 7-year-old Sly back after having had him claimed from him for this price on Dec. 29.

The track is listed as good and sealed and it is starting to rain harder.
