Aqueduct: Riptide stumbles; jock and horse OK

Email

After bumping with Rampant at the break, Riptide stumbled, unseating jockey Jose Valdivia Jr. Jock got up quickly and walked off under his own power.

Riptide ran loose, crashed through a rail that separates the inner track from the outer track, ran loose for a while over the snow covered main track before tiring and jogging back to an outrider who picked the horse up and brought him back. A vet did a quick look-over of Riptide who seemed okay.

Race was was by All in No Outs, giving Cornelio Velasquez his thrd win of the day. One of two losses to this point came aboard 1-4 favorite Frazil in the third. In a four-horse field, Velasquez found himself pinned along the rail, then between horses for the last quarter mile. That race was run by Naipaul Chatterpaul owned and trained Missile Motor.

Today's list of winning trainers at Aqueduct includes Chatterpaul, Jeff Odintz, Joe Parker and John Toscano Jr. Linda Rice, who was the trainer of Frazil, won two races on the card.
