Aqueduct: Rift wins, Rum Row euthanized

Rift Row ($3.10) broke his maiden in his third start, mkaing the lead under  Ramon Dominguez, ran rapid fractions of 22.72 seconds, 45.54, 57.32 and cvoering six furlongs in 1:09.77. Arch Traveler, a first-time starter by Sky Mesa, ran well to be second.

Rift Row had finished second in his first two starts, first to Fort Hughes then to Leave of Absence. Rift likely headed to south Florida and should be one to keep an eye on at Gulfstream.

Unfortunately, we had our third incident of the day when Rum Row, a first-time starter owned by Edward Cox and trained by Nick Zito, dumped jockey Jose Valdivia Jr., and suffered a fatal injury. Appeared to have broken his shoulder.
