Head Heart Hoof, who reeed off four consecutive victories at Finger Lakes from August to November, returned off a two-month layoff to win a $10,000 claiming race by 2 1-2 lengths. He ran the seldom-used distance of 5 1-2 furlongs in 1:03.50 establishing an inner track record for the distance. The previous mark of 1:03.66 was set by Mr. Bourbon Street in 2008.

Head Heart Hoof, like most of the winners thus far on this card, did so in front-running fashion. The winner was ridden by C.C. Lopez.

Head Heart Hoof is trained by Chris Englehart, who won his second race on the day and his 15th of the inner track season to move into second-place in the trainer standings, two behind Todd Pletcher.
