Aqueduct: Final day on the inner track

Email

The final day of the near-four-month-long inner-track meet is upon us, with a 10-race card highlighted by the Ladies Stakes.

There is a $22,220 pick-6 carryover that gets underway with race 5, post 2:54 p.m.

The $250k guaranteed late pick-4 begins with race 7, post 3:52 p.m. The all-sprint sequence consists of a basement $7.5k claimer for non-winners in six months, and three New York-bred races including a $25k maiden claimer and a $15k non-winners of two lifetime claimer.

Todd Pletcher holds a 38-36 lead on Gary Contessa for the training title. Pletcher has two runners - Triple A. Rating, a second-time starter who is the morning-line 2-1 choice in race 2; and The Roundhouse, part of an entry along with the Bruce Levine-trained Mister Treister in race 6. Contessa saddles four - Idaho Joe (1st); Eli's Comin (5th); Sweet Venom (9th); and Classy Jet (10th).

The 139th running of the Ladies, carded as race 4 at 2:25 p.m., scratched down to a field of four older fillies and mares after the defection of Weathered. Tidal Dance will be a solid favorite.
