Aqueduct: Endless Circle wins spill-marred Fall Highweight

Email

Rebounding from a clunker as the favorite in the Hudson, the New York-bred Endless Circle (8th, $11.60) was along late to win a spill-marred renewal of the Grade 3, $100,000 Fall Highweight Handicap.

Claimed for $14,000 earlier this year by Rudy Rodriguez, Endless Circle upped his record this year to 8-2-0 from 13 starts, after overtaking pacesetter Wildcat Frankie and running six furlongs in 1:09.79 on a fast track. He shared top-weight of 129 with Wall Street Wonder and Go Go Shoot, who fell in the stretch.

Go Go Shoot pursued Wildcat Frankie from the start, then fell in midstretch and unseated John Velazquez. Horse and rider appeared to come out of the incident largely unscathed, each able to leave the track under their own power. This was the second straight day Velazquez hit the deck on a Todd Pletcher-trained horse, after Rhys broke in a tangle in Wednesday's third race.

Jack On the Rocks got past a tiring Wildcat Frankie in the final yards for second.
