Aqueduct: Dominguez breaks skid

After winning three stakes at Tampa Bay Downs last Saturday, reigning Eclipse Award winning jockey Ramon Dominguez had fallen on hard times. He ended a 0-for-16 skid by guiding Eminent Tale to a front-running victory in the $60,000 Undaunted Mettle Stakes in Aqueduct's eighth race.

It was Dominguez's 80th win of the meet, restoring his lead to 31 wins over David Cohen.

When Dominguez went 0 for 8 on Thursday, it marked just the third time in 38 inner track cards at which he has ridden this winter that Dominguez failed to win a race.

Dominguez, who went 1 for 4 on Friday, will be a man on the move this weekend, riding at Laurel on Saturday, Aqueduct on Sunday and Oaklawn on Monday.

Eminent Tale, trained by Richard Dutrow Jr., easily held off a late run by Sky Music to win the Undaunted Mettle. He was the fifth favorite to win on the card.
