Aqueduct: Despite spill in opener; show will go on

For whatever reason, the show will go on at Aqueduct despite a spill in the opener in which Offlee Cool slipped and went down at the eighth pole, suffering what looks to be a bad injury to his left foreleg. He was vanned off.

Apprentice jockey Brian Pedroza lay on the ground under the rail for a few minutes before getting up on his own and walking into the ambulance. Pedroza was okay and planned to ride the remainder of the card, though he didn't seem too enthusiastic about it.

The jockeys were in no hurry to leave the room for the second.

By the way, the track is listed as fast but it's not. The riders came back caked in mud following the opener and those who spoke mentioned that it was wet and a little deep.
