Aqueduct: Cohen, Saez go down in spill

Email

Jockeys David Cohen and Gabriel Saez both went down in a spill in Thursday's fourth race, but both appeared to escape serious injury. Cohen, however, was taken off his remaining five mounts of the day and went to North Shore University Hospital for precautionary x-rays on his right shoulder. Saez was expected to ride his final two mounts on the card.

Cohen hit the firm ground very hard when his mount, Long Con, broke down in his right foreleg. Saez aboard Mount Karakorum, fell over Long Con. The status of Long Con was not known. Mount Karakorum appeared to be okay.

Ramon Dominguez picked up the mount on Port Royal in the fifth, Channing Hill is on Timber Cat in the sixth, Edgar Prado picked up the mount on Writingontheway in the seventh and Cornelio Velasquez is on Timber Cruise in the eight. No rider yet named on High Lion in the ninth.
