Aqueduct: Castaneda wire to wire

Castaneda (8th, $3.70), the lone 3-year-old against six older New York-bred second-level allowance sprinters, just blitzed his field through splits of 22.03, 44.38 and 1:09.50. The son of Yonaguska has now won three straight for Gary Contessa, and everyone else in tomorrow's Bay Shore is probably heaving a sigh of relief that they won't have to catch him...they'll just have to catch Contessa's Eightyfiveinafifty.

Castaneda was the third leg of a late pick-4 that began with Simple Cat (6th, $3.40) and All Sew Smooth (7th, $3.80). The will-pay with Shrimp Dancer, who is currently 1-9 in the off-the-turf nightcap, is $28; the pick-6 with Shrimp Dancer is coming back $190.50.

Favorites are now 14 for 18 since Wednesday's' ninth race.
